Exterior Project in Decatur, GA
Located just east of the Kirkwood area of Atlanta, this property is anothing shining example of work that our crews have completed in and around Decatur, GA. The scope of the project included a full exterior repainting of the home. All siding, trim, windows and window frames, doors and door frames, as well as the full porch and rear deck were recoated.
As with all exterior painting jobs, this home was first pressure-washed using a mildicide solution to remove all dirt and mildew for proper finish coat adhesion. Additional cleaning was needed to address the extreme chalking that existed. Chalking is the formation of fine powder on the surface of the paint film due to weathering.
After the cleaning, carpentry repairs were addressed which included multiple sections of failing window framing.
Prep work was then completed:
- Caulking was applied to all previously caulked gaps and cracks in order to seal out future moisture. We replaced missing or loose putty/glazing. Minor holes were filled with wood putty.
- All loose and peeling paint was scraped to ensure a firm base for the new paint.
- A light sanding was applied to areas where scraping occurred in order to promote adhesion.
Paint products used included a combination of Sherwin Williams Resilience-Acrylic Latex and Sherwin Williams Duration-Acrylic Latex for the home and detached garage, and Sherwin Williams Superdeck-Waterborne for the porch and deck.
