This home, located just a few blocks north of Atlanta’s historic Eastlake Golf Club, was recently painted in September 2018. The scope called for a nearly full exterior repainting of the home to include all siding and trim, as well as concrete steps and flooring of the front porch with limited exclusions that included sections of fencing, the home’s foundation, and portions of an attached screened porch.
The home was first pressure-washed to remove all dirt and mildew. A mildicide solution was used, comprising of 3 parts water and one part bleach to accomplish this. Next, extensive prep work was needed to get the home ready for painting. This work included caulking, puttying, scraping, and sanding. Elastomeric sealants were used to caulk all previously calked gaps and cracks to seal out moisture. Missing and/or loose putty and glazing was replaced, while wood puttying was used to repair minor holes. Loose and peeling paint was then scraped to ensure a firm base for the new paint. Last, a light sanding was applied to areas where scraping occurred in order to promote adhesion. When all prep work was completed, the home was primed with PrimeRx™ Peel Bonding Primer. Premium quality Sherwin-Williams products were then applied as a top coat. The products included Sherwin-Williams Solid Super Stain for the Cedar Shake Shingles siding, and Sherwin-Williams semi-gloss Latex Resilience for the trim. One coat of Sherwin-Williams Solid 100% Acrylic ArmorSeal TreadPlex was applied to the concrete step and flooring of the front porch.
